Self-portrait

Leading the series of five paintings dealing with imperfection is an abstract self-portrait of the artist. It’s about presenting imperfect: A woman does not seek attention after the classic bathroom mishap, where the lipstick has slipped and the makeup has been destroyed. This disruption of perfection, where I myself also like to apply red lipstick, fascinated me and stimulated the development of the series on the subject of „imperfection“.

*The imperfections series shows the aesthetics of the supposedly unsightly: the baroque splendor of the protagonists staged is in deliberate contradiction to the humorous use of elements or situations from our contemporary everyday life – united in a harmonious total work of art.
